easy

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 large head of broccoli, cut into florets
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, grated
  • 1/4 cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Cooked white rice, for serving
  1. 1In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with 1 tbsp soy sauce and 1 tbsp cornstarch. Marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. 2In a small bowl, whisk together the remaining soy sauce, beef broth, oyster sauce (if using), sesame oil, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes (if using). Set aside.
  3. 3Heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, until bright green and slightly tender-crisp. Remove the broccoli from the skillet and set aside.
  4. 4Add the remaining 1 tbsp of vegetable oil to the skillet. Add the marinated beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes, until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  5. 5Add the minced garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.
  6. 6Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and bring to a simmer. Cook for 1-2 minutes, until slightly thickened.
  7. 7Add the cooked beef and broccoli back to the skillet. Toss to coat in the sauce.
  8. 8Serve immediately over cooked white rice.
