  • 1 pound pizza dough, store-bought or homemade
  • 1/2 cup tomato sauce, preferably San Marzano
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes
  1. 1Preheat oven to 500°F (260°C) with a pizza stone or baking steel inside.
  2. 2Roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness and shape.
  3. 3Transfer the dough to a pizza peel dusted with cornmeal or flour.
  4. 4Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border.
  5. 5Arrange the mozzarella slices on top of the sauce.
  6. 6Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  7. 7Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking steel.
