Classic Margherita Pizza

- 1 pound pizza dough, store-bought or homemade
 - 1/2 cup tomato sauce, preferably San Marzano
 - 8 ounces fresh mozzarella, sliced
 - 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
 - Salt and pepper to taste
 - Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes
 
- 1Preheat oven to 500°F (260°C) with a pizza stone or baking steel inside.
 - 2Roll out the pizza dough to your desired thickness and shape.
 - 3Transfer the dough to a pizza peel dusted with cornmeal or flour.
 - 4Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border.
 - 5Arrange the mozzarella slices on top of the sauce.
 - 6Drizzle with olive oil and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using).
 - 7Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated pizza stone or baking steel.
 - 8Bake for 8-12 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
 - 9Remove the pizza from the oven and top with fresh basil leaves.
